IPL 3 – More of politics than sports!

February 04 1 Comment Category: Cricket

The Indian Premier League 3rd season (check the IPL 3 schedule) has been the most controversial season of all times, and its everything due to the involvement of Bollywood and Politics in it. It’s a sport, with nothing sportive in it.

First it was about the Pakistani players, where ignorance towards them led to few talks. It should have ended there, and then issue about the venue for the opening ceremony came out. And now, it has become filmy with Shahrukh Khan’s single statement has become a point of talk for every other celebrity and political party!

When the players from Pakistan are not being taken in, there should be a real reason behind this. Why is everyone hiding that? Would the sport get spoiled if Misbah-ul-Haq and few others are taken to play in the IPL tournament? NOT at all. Then why show the ignorance there?

Now here’s where Politics took over the game totally.. in both the ways!
Firstly, The beautiful new stadium in Hyderabad, which was supposed to be the venue for opening ceremony of the IPL 3rd season, might be empty during whole of the tournament, and all the games here to be shifted to other cities. All because of the Andhra-Telangana clashes! Everything happened only after CM Y.S. Rajashekhar Reddy’s death!
And from Hyderabad, the venue shifted to Mumbai.. where it wasn’t welcomed happily! The Shiv Sena party as always has some issues with everything. They didn’t want the opening ceremony to happen in their city, as they claim the Australians have treated their people real bad, so they won’t welcome them for the sports! What a cheap decision!

Secondly, Shahrukh Khan commented on the decision about Pakistani Players and said it was wrong in not taking them into the IPL teams. If there are empty slots, he wouldn’t mind taking them into the team! According to him, we Indians are to treat every guest in the same way. Why to show the difference and discrimination being an Indian? He’s true!
Again the same Shiv Sena (the biggest attention seekers) protested against that decision. They ask him not to try to get differences in the state. And they demand him to apologize to them, or they would not let the release of “My Name is Khan” movie to happen in Mumbai.

What’s the point? Did anyone talk about Cricket during all this? they forgot that its cricket and not politics that has to be looked about.. Pleeaasssseeeeeeee keep yourself out of cricket! Go and seek attention somewhere else. Let game be game!

  1. IPL is nothing but an enormous wastage of money by filmstars and industralists to make black money white. Sharad Power and his coterie including debunk Modi have played dirty games with this noble game. we do not know when it wil come to an end until Power is removed from central ministry. Dalmiya was far better.
