Please try to avoid mobile phone usage during pregnancy!
This is a warning to all those who use mobile phones to the highest extent, that the habit can lead to things that you would regret for life. Excessive usage of mobile phone during your period of pregnancy can be fatal for the developing fetus, and can lead to nervous disorders if less severe than fatality.
Here is what Nadhiya, my friend shared about a case that happened in her neighbor’s house!
Deepa is my neighbor, a good friend and a 27 year old expecting mother. She conceived after four years of her blissful married life. The couple is perhaps the happiest couple; strong and confident, solved every hurdle they could before settling down for a baby. She quit her job the next day after she got her pregnancy report.
18th August 2009:
Deepa was three months pregnant. She could not wait to be a mom
12th November 2009:
Doctor says baby is very healthy and marks the due date on 15th of March 2010. Deepa leaves to her Mom’s place for a safe delivery. Her parents live in Kanchipuram
28thJanuary 2010:
Deepa is in to her eighth month. Doctor in Kanchipuram says there is a problem with the baby and orders them to leave to Chennai immediately and take a 3D Scan
29th January 2010:
Deepa comes to Chennai and explains the problem to her doctor. The scan is taken and the doctor does not feel sorry that the problem has not been rectified earlier.
31st January:
Deepa is admitted to the hospital immediately and is injected Oxytocin(to induce labor pain).
1st February 2010:
Deepa has a forced labor and the baby dies within two hours
Now what was the actual problem? The baby’s brain and the nervous system failed to develop to its full extent.
Reason: The doctor cited Heavy Mobile phone usage as a reason. Apparently Deepa didn’t have a landline phone at her in-laws and used only her mobile, whenever she had to make a call.
Anyways, people claim that there is nothing much scientifically proved, but still when these incidents happen, don’t you think you should try to reduce the risk by minimizing the usage of mobile phones during pregnancy? Your ignorance is going to claim a life unknowingly. You may blame the doctors, you may blame yourself, but you get nothing for the blame.. you already are losing someone!
Take these steps when you are expecting a baby, i.e. you are pregnant -
- Minimize the use of mobile phone
- Text a person instead of making a call
- Use landline.
- Always keep the phone at a distance
- Never take a call when the charge on your phone is low
- Switch off the phone when you go to bed at night. If you have to keep an alarm, there is an alarm clock invented for the purpose
Usage of a land line phone is more advisable during the period of pregnancy. Its not just the pregnant females but everyone is advised to reduce the usage of mobile phone but it won’t happen with these tiny shouts, so at least this one goes for those who are giving birth to a new life in the world.

very informative….!!
Excess Mobile usage in bad, not only for Pregnant women but also others. I know how people ignore this by saying that it’s just another stupid survey. But, thy only get alarmed when something like this happens to them. I would request every reader of this post to share this post via twitter, facebook, orkut or whatever you use. this should reach every single person.
thanks for writing this post.
Probabilities cant be definite possibilities. FCC regulations make it impossible to make mobile phones that cause such radiation levels. Either the pregnant girl used a cheap ass Rs. 2000 and less Korean crap phone or the whole hypothesis is baseless.
A doctor can allege a thousand things, but test data needs to prove something as serious as what is being mentioned in this case. I can’t help but think what if the delivery that was artificially induced was their mistake and all of this is a cover up. Out of personal experience i know many hospitals would do anything for money. Been there, done that so i fail to trust this doctors claims about a cellular phone hampering brain development to the extend the baby dies. My cousin has a normal baby and i know for fact she used 3 different nokia phones while she was pregnant. I fail to see the connection.
I agree with the comment from DM wholeheartedly. I fail to see any connection between mobile phone usage and this obvious lapse on behalf of the doctors.
It seems very silly to blame a medical problem which should have been detected on time on such a baseless claim. And equally concerning is the rapidity with which this story seems to be spreading- the perfect way to spread rumors and foster ignorance.
