Scenes where Five Points Someone and 3 Idiots were different
When its one side, its the other side too. Check where the movie and the book were similar too, also check Chetan Bhagat vs 3 Idiots – a Publicity Stunt?.
There are many different scenes where you can claim that the book by Chetan Bhagat – Five Points Someone is somewhere different to the movie 3 Idiots. I could list out of hundreds, but there would be no point doing that. I have some support for Chetan Bhagat here, as how many ever scenes you add or change, the base part of the story is copied, that’s what matters.. right?

Here are a few scenes where you can see the difference between the book and the movie -
- Finding the lost friend, the 3rd idiot. There’s nothing as such in the book
- Shocking the senior, by Rancho when he enters the college first time.. use of engineering mind.. nothing in the book
- Astronaut pen, having a bird with him, power nap of 7.5 minutes – none of these in the book
- Farhan’s ambition of becoming a wildlife photographer – One of the big scenes in the movie
- Chatur’s comedy scene – 5 minute entertaining hindi speech
- Rancho’s and Farhan’s promises to get Raju out of coma after the suicide attempt shock
- Rancho teaching Virus how to teach- PreRajulization and Farhanitrate. It isn’t there in the book
- Pia’s fiance being obsessive about brands, prices.. all which helps bring Rancho and Pia closer
- The concept of Aal Izz Well.. which is being talked about all around, is not a copy!
- Chatur challenging Rancho to come back after 10 years, and then search for Rancho when he isn’t there
Quite many other scenes too explain it that the movie is not entirely a copy of the book “Five Points Someone“. Chetan Bhagat’s book was not just used as an inspiration, but it can be clearly seen that the story was re-written with few funny, few sentimental scenes to bring in some sense to the story.
