Ruchika Girhotra – An innocent girl, who had just entered his teen life, an upcoming tennis player for the country, from a very simple and good family, became a victim of molestation under the evil hands of a man who had all the powers to control her, make her silent, make her family silent and suffer, everything he could do just to see himself safe from all this. She was just 14-year old, and S.P.S Rathore was the IG of Haryana Police.

Things happened since the day Ruchika was molested -

• She was molested in 1990, and she could not react to it, and could not tell her that to her parents easily. After gaining enough courage, she told all that and her parents helped her file a case against Rathore. Since then things worsened for Ruchika and her family.
• After the case was registered, the Station House Officer who had to deal with it, didn’t do much about it. The DGP R.R. Singh says that he was politically pressurized and could not do anything. A DGP has a control where he needs no permission from higher officials to do anything, so he could investigate the case. He didn’t and smartly moves away by saying that he was under pressure of politicians. No one commented about it when the politicians of that time were asked about it.
• Her school principal didn’t help her. Instead teachers and students used to see her with a different view, she used to cry the whole day at school (can u imagine how it feels when everyone around you knows what happened, still no ones there to support you!), and she was rusticated/expelled from school for abnormal behavior. It was then, but now when the court asks the principal of that time, answer comes out that she was expelled from the school as she did not pay the fees for 6 months. FALSE.
• Ruchika’s brother Ashu was badly treated. He was booked with 7 cases of theft and jailed for months. He was beaten badly, tortured him, made him sign agreements that Ruchika should take all the cases back, which were against S.P.S. Rathore. Ashu was released and all his cases were called off, only when Ruchika unbearably killed herself by consuming poison, in 1993.
• The policemen under Rathore stoned her house, used to follow Ruchika till her home, to ensure she isn’t going elsewhere to complain about him. On the day of judgement too, someone called her father and threatened him to keep him silent and take all the charges back.
• The CBI investigation officer has silently escaped from all this, making this case a big joke in the name of law and justice.
• After all this happened, after Ruchika’s friend Aradhana who was an eye-witness too had to keep silent with her family due to pressure. She still holds the name of friendship alive, by fighting for justice after 19 years. We need to support her, we the people who always see things happen around us, but are blindfolded intentionally, need to open our eyes.

Did Ruchika commit suicide? she did, but we can’t call it Suicide. It was a MURDER, a forceful murder all influenced by Rathore.

S.P.S. Rathore went on with a smile on his face for these many years and got promoted well to become one of the best police officials of Haryana. Do you think he deserves that? he still has the same power that he had those days..
During the last judgement few days back, Rathore was given a mere 6-month imprisonment and Rs 1000 fine. And a few minutes later, due to orders from Supreme Court, he was granted bail. He came out with a big smile waving his hands, as he did something that he is proud of!

Anand Prakash, Aradhana’s father is still fighting for Ruchika and her family. He was given Bravery Award for fighting the case for Ruchika, but he refused, as he knows its not ended yet. The culprit should be given a punishment that every evil mind remembers for always. Our laws, our nation and the politicians have changed it so badly that awarding good people is still being done but punishing the wrong ones? it depends! depends on who has to be punished..

“We were alone fighting this case for the last 19 years so there was very bleak hope for justice but now when we are getting support from all sections of society we are assured of true justice ahead,” Prakash said.

Its time that we at least realize now, and support Ruchika’s family which is broken but still seeks support from everyone. Sign this PETITION and let the government know, and the evil demons of the nation learn a lesson by getting punished. Only then we can say our country is abiding by the rules.
