I hate ragging, but still am a senior
Why are always the seniors blamed? Although they might not be involved in a case of ragging.. blame the law? or the people trying to go with the law?
I never tell that 100% people in a group are the same, because there are always a few who walk on a different track.. and are born with a wicked mind. At least 2-5% people think the other way. Its not uncommon, not surprising, but when you know this fact, why do you blame each and everyone in that 100% population for something done by that other kind?
Don’t you think the law of punishing and keeping the Seniors in colleges silent is a great step? Think about it. What are juniors turning into, taking the advantage of it. Lets take an example of a medical college here.
Juniors always come with some fear in their mind, of being ragged and how the impact would be on them for their future, in their batch, in front of the girls with whom they study.. will they have to obey the senior for the next 4 years there? thousands of questions in mind!

But when they enter the college, a group of anti-ragging squad welcomes them (at least that happened in my college) and then the fear is removed out of them! But later, what I’ve seen is that juniors forget how to treat a senior.
They forget the value of the seniors, the dignity to be maintained, the respect to be given while talking to a senior. I’m not saying that they should wish me every morning, afternoon, evening and night (Unlike my friends, i hate asking my juniors to wish us, to respect us.. that feeling should come in them already if they had some brains).
We don’t encourage the practice of ragging, but that doesn’t mean we are feared of doing it. I don’t do it because I feel the juniors too are humans like me. Why ask them to do something forcefully when they are not happy doing it? But all this has made juniors in my college think that these seniors are so weak, they don’t come and be hard to us. they don’t rag us, don’t torture us.. eek what a retarded thinking.
Don’t fall into an impression that because we are not ragging you, we are weak to do that. Don’t forget that we are always your seniors and deserve some respect and distance at least inside the college campus.
