TRS calls on a 48-hour strike after Center’s decision on Telangana
After KCR noted to the party people that the central government has betrayed the TRS party workers with a decision that they were not expecting, they called a 48-hour strike around the state and the major part of Hyderabad city had already come to a halt once they called it off. The students of Osmania University who were supporting the Telangana separation started protesting and shutting down everything around.
TRS chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao said -
People of Telangana have been once again betrayed. The statement has no clarity and no time frame! How long will it take for the formation of Telangana state. Another 50 years? How many more people have to die,
Even before Mr. Chidambaram (home minister) made the statement, police imposed prohibitory orders in Telangana districts but in other regions there were no such orders and every party was allowed to protest in the manner they liked,
Students of Nizam College, Osmania college, and of various student unions began protesting in various parts of the state. ABVP called for closure of all schools and colleges. The state has come to a situation which it was at, a few days back before Sonia Gandhi had first given signs of state separation.
KCR and his associates, party workers all have decided to resign from their positions to see the government fall so that something serious can be decided about it later.
