Tum Mile movie review – Love in rains and the movie drains!
Most of it was expected, but not the fact that movie has more love story than display of the rains and floods. Tum Mile is a movie which tried to show that the rains on July 26th in Mumbai were a reason for 2 people to love each other again, after breaking up 6 years back. Not a very bad concept, but yet an emotional and expected bore!
The whole movie is a mix of present day and the flashback, which sometimes can confuse anyone when we talk about the frequency. And one can easily shout out the names of movies from which most of the scenes were inspired, a few of them like -
- Raaz – The Mystery Continues.. and the painting passion and artistic career of Emraan Hashmi continues in Tum Mile. He plays a role of part-time waiter and full-time artist.
- Titanic – Though nothing here shows a ship, but the same scene being repeated inside a hospital where the cracks in the wall flooded the hospital, and then the escape from there, keys falling into the water and the heroish work by Emraan to search and find it.
When its Emraan Hashmi as the lead role, the songs are always as expected, the BEST. They were very well timed and directed, and its nothing unexpected, as sometimes his movies excel only due to the songs. Soha Ali Khan is at her best, and played both the romantic and emotional parts pretty well.
First half of the movie was nothing about the disaster, the second half too had very less about it.. most of the movie was about the romantic love story, intermingling with the clashes due to the negative attitude of Emraan.. whereas the promotions had nothing matching the story.
I still keep wondering why did they break-up? Was Emraan’s job the only reason?? He too asks the same question in the movie.. and the way they reunite in the end, was shown in a way that doesn’t display proper emotions! Unusually there were less dialogues when they were needed..
My advice would be not to expect high, which people usually do when Mumbai is mentioned, being the home for Bollywood.. Wake up Sid was good with the Mumbai Beat magazine and talk about Mumbai, but in Tum Mile there’s nothing much about Mumbai, nothing much about the rains and floods, nothing much about anything other than the couple and their battling lives. Still, its not totally a poor movie. You can watch it once and appreciate Pritam’s music and the songs, the direction and the chemistry between the lead pair.
Kunal Deshmukh(the director) continued showing the female role pretty decent after his previous movie “Jannat” and Emraan being a different case in both the movies.
My rating for Tum Mile: 2.5/5

di,
the post flood part is no love at all actually.. just a couple emotional scenes which had nothing much to show.
As i said, the only thing mostly was shown is boring romance, and that too not in a catchy way..
