Ajab Prem ki Ghazab Kahani movie review
Raj Kumar Santoshi, a serious director when we look into his previous movies like “The Legend of Bhagat Singh”, “Pukar” and “Khakee”, bringing in a romantic-comedy all of a sudden, would surely keep many dropped-jaws who won’t like missing the movie, after at least listening to the songs.
The story was not that impressive, a couple reasons for that, firstly it was nothing unexpected. These days most of the romantic movies have the same track in stories, and secondly, a telugu movie “Ullasamga Utsahanga” has the same story which was released last year.. the only difference, the story was displayed better in Hindi version.
Music, one of the best part by Pritam with the couple songs sung by Atif Aslam, were totally excellent and well displayed with the romantic backgrounds and timing of the songs were perfect.
Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani will surely make you laugh at many instances and some emotional scenes can make you think. The main role by Ranbir and Katrina suited them well, and the pair looked too dashing and acted to their top class. Some scenes like stammering of Ranbir and Katrina when they get emotional, the relationship between son and dad, the shocking scene where Prem(Ranbir) plans to kidnap Jenny(Katrina) who was being forced to marry someone else, but she then tells him about her love for Rahul(Upen Patel).

When I like a movie, I don’t feel it necessary to list out every good point in it, as the rating would talk everything. But in this movie, a few negative points can be the villain(utter time waster, no entertainment).. and the kidnapping of Jenny which happened all of a sudden, no plans.. and the first half being so well displayed, one would expect the story to go the same way till the end of the movie. But here, the 2nd half was a bit boring. Though the couple songs gave some boost in the middle..
Ranbir Kapoor after the cool Wake up Sid, has again proved that his simple and cute looks can impress everyone watching him, and Katrina, no explanation needed, she’s perfect as always.. except a few hindi words which she still has to learn in Indian accent. She did the best in New York, and now she hit the screens pretty well again.
Trying to show some different comedy and making people laugh is not easy for a director who has rarely directed something funny, but still Rajkumar Santoshi proves everything wrong, and does it too well in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani.
My rating for this romantic-comedy entertainer would be 3.5/5 all credited to the characters, action, music and the direction..
