Australia out of ICC Twenty20 2009

One of the most strongest teams in the competition, which India wouldn’t want to face until they reach the finals, are out of the Twenty20 world cup. Yep! Australia crashed out of the tournament after losing both the games in their group.

First it was West Indies who did everything with Chris Gayle’s powerful innings to win the game easily against Australia and now its Sri Lanka yesterday who won the group match against Australia to throw it out of the tournament.

Yesterday’s match was totally exciting, and thrilling going till the last over with not a single but many players contributing to Sri Lankan’s victory against Australia. When Aussies were batting first, they had lost 6 wickets for just 95 but still added good score in the last 5 overs but Sri Lanka was consistent from the start of the innings and finally won it to get themselves into the Super 8 and eliminate Australia.

One of the big competitors being out is a big relief for all the other teams who might have to face them in Super 8.
Still, if Gilchrist was in the team with Symonds, i would have supported Australia a lot but the team has got lesser strength now.
