MS Dhoni – Always lucky and cool – IPL also proves it

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is called as the Captain Lucky and Captain Cool has always proved his name right, in the yesterday’s IPL game which they were almost losing but just to try his luck, he brought in a non-regular bowler which led to Chennai’s victory in that match.

Batting first, Hayden and Dhoni had piled up a big score of 185 in just 18 overs(Not 20 due to the rain) and then Kings XI Punjab still did not stay calm. They fought back really well with Yuvraj, Katich batting pretty well and the game was going into Punjab’s hands totally.
Then came the lucky and cool mind of Dhoni, who gave the ball into Suresh Raina’s hands to control it. He did it very perfectly conceding just 8 runs from 2 overs and this ensured Chennai Super Kings victory over Punjab. If Dhoni had given the ball to some regular bowler at that time, Yuvraj and Jayawardene would have finished if off pretty easily.

Its not totally the matter of Raina’s bowling, but its the luck with Dhoni which ensured his team’s victory yesterday. And now Chennai Super Kings are on the top of the chart with highest points, and winning 5 games in total out of 9.

Lucky Dhoni!

  1. I’m a supporter of Chennai Super Kings but I find this post offensive for any team. Especially coming from someone who watched the match. Did you see the failed catches and the run out that could have been?

It raining and bringing overs down is Luck for Punjab. The Punjab guys fought back valiantly, but putting together a total of 185 in 18 overs is a very impressive feat for ANY team, much less the captain and hayden putting together such an impressive partnership.

“It is luck with Dhoni that ensured the win” – I have to laugh. I agree we have our favourite teams, but the reason I think that they played well is taking a valuable risk, who is to say Yuvraj wouldn’t have slashed Raina out? He was not used to Raina’s bowling as opposed to the others. That’s not luck, that’s smart.

For that matter every shot Tendulkar hits could be counted luck now according to your post.

  2. Karthick, i agree with your emotions about your favorite team, but still if it was just skill then why didn’t CSK win all the IPL games till date? Was that poor skill or Dhoni was just trying his luck in every game?

And you still have to agree with the point that Dhoni just tried his luck by introducing Raina into the bowling attack at that moment of the match where Punjab were winning it mostly, and if Dhoni would have thought about Skill rather than luck, he should have surely gone for Sudeep Tyagi or Balaji at that time rather than Raina. Raina is just a part time bowler who is used when no good bowler is productive.

Finally, being a CSK fan you might not agree with my words, but many might agree with it :)
