Abhinav Gupta, one of my blog readers contacted me on IM and asked how to start a blog, and as it was to teach it from the scratch i thought it would be easier to post everything in here, in the easiest and smallest way.

OK here are the steps that i suggest you to follow -

• Register a domain
• Find the best web host and register the hosting
• Link both of them – Domain + Hosting
• Wait for the DNS to propagate
• Install wordpress through Fantastico
• Start blogging

Registering a domain name is easy through some sites like Domainsite.com, Hostbrains.com with good options for payment and easy registration and searching. As i am associated with, and very well familiar with Hostbrains, i suggest any new blogger to use it to register a domain name. A domain costs $10 for registration, and also for renewal after a year, its $10. Here is a list of best domain registrars.

Here are a few good tips for finding the best web host, and you can also use your own opinions or user opinions through web host review websites. Again, my vote would go for Hostbrains or hostgator for the best plans and prices for blog hosting.

After you have done with registration of domain name and hosting, you have to change the DNS settings in the domain settings and include your host DNS servers and wait for a few hours for the DNS to propagate.
After all that is done, you will be able to access your website.

Then go to the cpanel, and search for the Fantastico foler. In that you would see a few blogging platforms like Nucleus, WordPress etc.
Go for wordpress and you would easily understand how to install it, with a few clicks and details like setting up of admin username and password.

And you are mostly done.
The blog will be already installed and then you will have to play with the themes, setting of the blog in the dashboard. All you can find in my blog – The WWW Blog. Or there is wordpress.tv website with tutorials about wordpress installation and tweaks.
