Cell phones replacing ATM’s too

Cell phones were popular all the time since they were introduced and are one of the best gadgets with huge amounts of development with the running time.

atm cellphoneThey replaced the cordless phones, then took over the mp3 players and walkmans by having music players in them, then replaced digital cameras by having 5 MP cameras in them and now they are taking step forward by trying to replace the ATM cards by making transactions possible through their interface.

I was just going through some gadget sites as a habit of mine, and stumbled through a post which stated “Cell phone to replace ATM”. I thought where in the world I am living, never knew that cell phones were used to pay the bills, make some transactions without having to go to the bank for that?

That’s awesome! Why not have just a bunch of cell phones and nothing else with you? You would live a wonderful life with all works being done and ordered through cell phones. Now coming back to what was given in that article,

Bangalore-based mobile payment solution provider mChek is one firm working with banks in India and abroad to rollout its card-less technology platform. The firm, which had thus far focused on mobile bill payment, recharge, flight bookings, and movie ticketing, says mobile phones can be the second level of authentication, beyond passwords, for establishing identities. Using two levels, rather than just one, implies a greater level of assurance.

I have heard about this company earlier, but didn’t know they were doing things so perfectly.

In a card-less world, the mobile phone number would be registered with the bank and instead of inserting the card into the machine; the user would type in his mobile number on the ATM’s keypad. Then, he feeds in a pre-issued mChek pin number into his mobile phone. This in turn will generate a random 10-digit pass code. When this number is fed into the ATM machine, the combination of the phone number and pass code is sent to mChek servers through the bank for verification. The user can then proceed with his transaction.

Now, that’s something superb!
